Capabilities:

This rack is designed with 6 baskets which hold 7 cages per basket. There are 2 large baskets located on the bottom, back to back that will accommodate 23 covers each as well as 2 cages each. This allows the rack to hold just as many covers as it can cages (46).

Overall dimension: 33Dx65Lx71 ½ H"
The bottom baskets which hold the covers and cages are approximately 11"x11" x62" long. The remaining six baskets which hold cages only measure approximately 7"x10" x62" long.

Material:

The six cage baskets are constructed from 1/8 x 2x2" open stainless steel wire mesh welded to 14 gage solid stainless steel end caps, which have mounting holes to bolt to the 11 gauge channels of the rack frame. There are two 14 gauge 1x1" angle track welded over the edge of the welded wire. The base and frame of the rack is all 11 gauge formed angle welded solid and mounted to four 5" heavy duty stainless steel plate casters with high temperature wheels.

Material: 16 gauge wall x 1 inch square stainless steel tubing. 16 gage wall, 5/16" stainless steel rods 2x2x 1/8" welded wire + 5" stainless steel heavy duty plate casters. (High temperature wheels)

Construction: The units frame is constructed of 1 inch square tubing back and side have 5/16 stainless steel rod welded between the 1 inch tubing with a 3 inch center to center spacing. The top and bottom of the shelf have a 2x2x1/8" welded wire cover tack welded to the 1 inch tubing frame 1inch tubing support bars welded under the wire. The bottom section will hold 100 cages. The top section will hold 100 covers (AS PICTURED ABOVE) The 5" heavy duty casters are bolted on to 11 gauge stainless steel pads which are welded to the bottom of the tubing frame.

Measurements and Materials and Functions:


Units consist of a 7x7x10" Stainless steel cage with a solid back and sides,the top is open. A center pitch metabolism pan slides on the bottom of the cage. Inside the pan there is a removable 10x10 stainless steel screen with an 18 gage "U" perimeter this keeps the feed from falling into the pan and mixing with the urine which is funneled into a receptacle under the pan. The cage is equipped with a combination feeder and bottle holder which hooks over the front of the cage. As the rodent eats and drinks from the feeder and bottle food crumbs or water fall into a small pan. The pan hooks over the front of the metabolism pan. This is called a food and water run-off pan; it keeps the urine specimen from being contaminated. A baffle at the front of the cage floor also helps the overflow of food and water fall into the run-off pan. The cage is supported by two flat bar leg frames that are attached to the sides of the cage. Each unit is equipped with a solid slide - on cover that has a 1/8" rod handle that locks the cover in place and allows the unit to be carried from one place to another. There is 2" stainless steel disc with a center hole for the drink tube to be inserted to into the cage front, the disc prevents the bottle stopperfrom being chewed on by the rodent.

Note: Rack can be constructed with cages back to back, to double the amount per unit. Back to back units would measure approximately 25 inches deep. Racks are constructed from 18 gage solid stainless steel shelves and 11 gage formed angle legs with 5 inch stainless steel casters.

Cages are fabricated from 24 gage stainless steel sheet to form the sides and back. The front and bottom is a 2x2x .062 stainless steel wire mesh (approximately 7/16" square openings) the cages are suspended by runners spot welded under the shelves. There is a small handle formed at the top of each cage to slide the cage in and out the rack. Each cage is equipped with a center pitch metabolism pan which slides over the cages bottom flange. The pan has a 10x10 stainless steel screen with a "U" frame around the perimeter; this keeps the feces separated from the urine which flows into a receptacle placed under each pan. There is also a food and water runoff pan that hooks over the front of the metabolism pan. Together the baffle and run-off pan keep the food and water from mixing with the urine specimen.

Each cage is equipped with a model RFC combination feeder and bottle holder which over the top of the cage and allows the rodent to eat though the mesh front. The feeder has a hook welded to the side of it which supports the 8oz or 16oz water bottle. The bottle is equipped with a rubber stopper and drink tube which extended into the cage front on each cage there is a stainless steel disc spot welded to the mesh which prevents the stopper from being chewed on. There is also a small card holder spot welded on to the feeder to display diet information.
